Beautiful Wooden Vespa

January 22, 2009 by admin

Wood may seem like an odd choice of materials from which to craft a vehicle, but perhaps it’s not such a bad idea, when you can think of it as nature’s composite.

Through most of human history, wood was the material of choice for our means of transport.

Think of sailing ships, airplanes and even many early cars, in fact, some cars such as Morgans still use wooden parts.

And, in the case of this Vespa replica, the results truly speak for themselves. This is a beautiful machine created by master craftsmen, Carlos Alberto from Portugal. You can visit his web site using the link at the foot of the article.

It looks like there’s a 2-stroke engine powering this machine, but I would forgive this beauty it’s oil-burning powerplant for it’s natural beauty. I am a bit short on details as to what’s powering this particular scooter. It might be an idea for Carlos to find an electric motor for his next bike project and that would be a true eco-machine.
