Canada’s Advanced Lithium Power signs Battery Deal with Fisker
March 13, 2009 by admin
The LA Times is reporting that Fisker Automotive has signed a deal with Vancouver-based Advanced Lithium Power Inc. On top of ordering (hopefully) thousands of 22.6-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion batteries for the Karma from ALP, Fisker will also make a “sizable” cash investment in the company. Fisker spokesman Russel Datz told the LA Times that two seats on the ALP board will go to Fisker. The exact number and cost of the batteries was not disclosed.
In early 2008, not long after the Karma’s debut, there was speculation that ALP would be Fisker’s battery source. ALP has a relationship with Quantum, which makes the Karma’s Q-Drive plug-in hybrid system. Quantum and ALP previoiusly worked together on converting Ford Escapes to PHEV capability.
