Cayenne S Hybrid Details Released

More information has just been released by Porsche on the new Cayenne S Hybrid that will finally launch in 2010. The company has changed up its powertrain plans since originally announcing the hybrid.
Instead of the older 3.6L normally aspirated V6, it will now use the new supercharged and direct injected 3.0L found in the new Audi S4 and A6. The 333 hp V6 is paired up with a 52 hp electric motor sandwiched between the engine and 8-speed automatic transmission. The combination of the engine, motor and nickel metal hydride battery can propel the Cayenne to 62 mph in 6.8 seconds. Read more
Renault-Nissan Alliance and Portugal Sign EV Agreement for 2010
It’s official, Nissan-Renault Alliance are ruling right now, hot of the heels of announcements of direct zero-emission mobility partnerships with Kanagawa Prefecture and Yokohama City in Japan, the States of Tennessee and Oregon, Monaco, Sonoma County in California, and the French utility giant EDF. Now the Government of Portugal and the Renault-Nissan Alliance announced a comprehensive partnership to deliver zero emission mobility to Portugal from 2010. The plan will utilize electric vehicles supplied by the Alliance, and will leverage an extensive charging network that will be built across Portugal over the next three years. Somebody at VW, BMW and everyone else better wake up and smell the solder, or they are going to be playing catch up for years to come.
The plan calls for 1,300 vehicle charging locations to be operational by the end of 2011, with 320 of those locations already in place in 2010. Read more
Hyundai Plans First U.S. Hybrid in 2010

Hyundai will introduce it’s first hybrid cars into the US using cutting-edge lithium-ion battery technology in 2010, an executive said on Wednesday. John Krafcik, vice president for product development at Hyundai, said the automaker would offer a hybrid version of the Sonata sedan for American consumers and would unveil a prototype of the vehicle in November of 2008. According to Dieter Zetsche, a fully electric ForTwo will be on sale to the public beginning in 2010. Smart currently has an electric version of its little ForTwo in Europe known as the Smart ed. This uses a sodium-nickel-chloride (Zebra) battery, the 41 horse electric motor has plenty of power to move the vehicle around, and urban performance is said to be improved over the standard model. So far, the electric Smart has only been for testing. Read more
