Opel Starts Fuel Cell Vehicle Test in Berlin

Opel will run real-world road tests under the umbrella of the Clean Energy Partnership (CEP), a German Federal Department for Transport, Building and Urban Development funded project focused on proving the day-to-day suitability of hydrogen as a fuel for road transport.
Opel has launched the European component of GM’s biggest-ever test program for fuel cell vehicles. There will be nine companies involved in the GM/Opel HydroGen4 zero emission vehicle test in the Berlin area: ADAC, Allianz, Coca-Cola, Hilton, Linde, Schindler, Axel Springer, Total and Veolia. GM Opel Introduces First Turbocharged Compressed Natural Gas Van

The Zafira CNG Turbo 1.6-liter engine is designed to run on either natural gas, biomethane or any mixture of the two. It is GM Opel’s first turbocharged Compressed Natural Gas compact van and it will be introduced at the Bologna motor show (5-14 December 2008).
The 1.6 CNG Turbo delivers 150 hp (112 kW) of power, with maximum torque of 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) at 2,300 rpm. Fuel consumption is 5.3 kg of natural gas per 100 km in the MVEG cycle, with 144 g/km of CO2. Top speed is 200 kph (120 mph). the 1.6 CNG Turbo delivers 60% more horsepower than the naturally aspirated CNG model for a difference of 6 grams in emissions. Read more
Chevy Volt on the road - Video

GM finally introduced the production version of the Chevy Volt to the world last week (officially this time) much to the delight of the hundreds of journalists packing the hall and the thousands upon thousands of folks who descended upon the internets to get a good look and all the pictures. While it was great to be able to see the car upon on stage after months of impatiently waiting, it’s quite another to see it in its natural environment, rolling down the road.
Thanks to Volt fan Dr. Lyle Dennis, who helps keeps us up-to-date on all the details of the vehicle through his GM-VOLT website, we can show you just that. Lyle has gotten hold of a promotional video featuring the 40 mile “E-rev” gently cruising around a track and has posted it on Youtube. So not only do we get to see the Volt moving along from many different angles but there are also lots of shots showing off the bling interior with all the fancy LCD displays doing their thing.

In the last week GM has announced that the next generation of Chevy Volt test vehicles would soon hit the road, meaning many Volt components and subsystems will be assembled together for the first time. “More chassis, brakes, batteries and other components that affect ride and handling,” will finally hit the road AutoWeek reported.
