Volkswagen Golf Twin Drive 2011

VW is working on a plug-in hybrid version of the Golf/Rabbit, called Twin Drive, which they are planning to sell in 2011. A proof-of-concept version using a diesel engine is currently testing using the current Mark 5 model in Berlin. VW engineers said the production version will be gasoline-powered because emission controls will soon get too expensive for a hybrid diesel. The Golf Twin Drive’s electric-only range is targeted at 30 miles. Read more
