Toyata A-BAT is GO

Toyota is now considering building the cool hybrid-powered A-BAT compact pickup that was debuted in concept form earlier this year in Detroit. It looks like Toyota is now putting all it’s efforts into hybrids.
Both a four cylinder and a hybrid powertrain would be on available and the small pickup would slot nicely below the Tacoma, which has become ever more successful with the past few redesigns. Suppliers are now bidding on different systems for the pick-up, but Toyota has yet to announce anything official.
Toyota has canceled plans for a small diesel engine for its full-size Tundra pickup, claiming poor sales. If the market ever picks back up, the car-maker claims it can revive the now stalled program. The hybrid A-BAT is a sure winner if it can get in the 35 mpg combined cycle range.
